ACT Before This Tuesday! TrumpCare Zombie
We all breathed a sigh of relief last week when the Senate health-care bill seemed on its way out.
It turns out that the Senate Republicans, at Trump's urging, are giving it one more try this Tuesday.
This Tuesday, they will carry out a procedural vote on any version of the bill they think they can pass.
It is all mired in confusion, but it seems that McConnell will bring to the floor an "anti-ACA bill passed by the House this spring and allow senators a sort of free-for-all for substituting in either of the Senate measures or new iterations." Basically, they will improvise the bill as they go along until they reach something that can pass.
This is not normal Senate behavior—the GOP, still somehow under Trump's thumb and desperate to pass something before August recess, has resorted to these extreme measures.
If a version of either bill passes the procedural vote, then things will move very quickly.
We need to keep the pressure up on those on-the-fence Republicans. Especially those that did not support it last week, but now after some strong-arming are saying they do.
And can we just say: The only reason the repeal hasn't already happened is because of your actions—keep it up just a little longer.
